Slated roofs a quite popular around Ireland and some slated roofs stretching back as far as 80+years. There a many different types of slates with the premium being Blue Bangor welsh slates, there are also some good Spanish and Brazilian slates ranging in size and colour. There are now some really good fibre cement slates and even some that replicate the appearance of a natural slate.
There is a minimum degree required in the pitch of the roof in order for slates to perform as they should is around 25 degree. There are however some new low pitch solutions to help with lower pitch roofs. Here at O’Brien roofing we have a wealth of experience in fitting slates and have been installing in for 30+years.
